COVID-19 Alert Level 2: Information for Families
All regions south of Auckland are in Alert Level 2 of the New Zealand Covid-19 Alert Levels. As an essential service, Cambridge Funerals remains open. We are determined to provide the best care and will guide you on the best options available for your situation. During Alert Level 2 we must operate under strict conditions. Please find these outlined below.
Know that you aren’t alone. These limitations will have an effect on the way we honour those we’ve lost but we are committed to helping you find innovative ways to connect with your loved ones.
We will attempt to make arrangements via telephone and have paperwork completed electronically. If this is not possible for you for any reason please let us know. If required we will make an appointment for you to visit us.
Any person entering Cambridge Funerals will be asked to scan in. We will ask you for all your details so we can contact trace if needed. Single ‘self-isolated family bubbles’ may make appointments to visit a loved one in our care so long as they are not unwell or are showing symptoms of Covid-19.
Whānau can travel within Alert Level 2 regions for a viewing, tangihanga, or burial. They do not need an exemption to do this. If whānau would like to travel through an Alert Level 4 region, without stopping, to attend a funeral or tangihanga in an Alert Level 2 region, they will need to apply for an exemption. Whānau can apply for an exemption online.
Farewelling your loved one
Gatherings of up to 50 people are allowed for funerals and tangihanga taking place indoors and, up to 100 people outdoors. Physical distancing and public health measures must be maintained, with attendees keeping 2 metres apart where possible (apart from with people within their extended bubble). Our Funeral Directors will utilise the use of web streaming technology to ensure those unable to attend in person, can view the service from the safety of their own home.
We are unable to hold any reception functions offering food or beverages.
Cremations and Burials
Under Alert Level 2 cremations and burials will still take place. We have a crematorium onsite and, can communicate with your chosen cemetery regarding their burial guidelines under Alert Level 2.
Burial at urupā
Whānau who live in the same region as their urupā may opt to have their loved one buried there. The person you’ve selected to liaise with the funeral director will also need to make the urupā arrangements themselves. Marae can assist with making these arrangements.
Face coverings are mandatory for all people who enter our premises.
Cleaning and Sanitising
Before and after your visit we will ensure all touched objects and surfaces are cleaned and sanitised.
